Westdale Community Centre is a volunteer driven organization which relies heavily on volunteers to ensure the community centre is run effectively and to provide quality programming and sporting opportunities for the community. We recognize that not everyone is able to volunteer their time due to various commitments. Therefore, Westdale Community Centre has implemented a volunteer incentive plan.
Hockey Program
After you have registered online, every family will be required to pay the $100 volunteer bond to Westdale Community Centre. As long as you are in the Westdale catchement area, regardless of where your child plays out of, you must complete the bond process for Westdale Community Centre. If you are receiving this email, you are in the catchment area.
The fee will be assessed only one time per year per family, regardless of the number of children from your family playing hockey (e.g. if two children from your family sign up, a $100 fee will be assessed, not $200). You can then choose to sign up for one of the designated volunteer opportunities or indicate you are not interested in volunteering. If you are not interested in volunteering, your payment will be cashed and the money will be used in the day to day operation of the community centre focusing on sports/activities programming and coordination and fundraising initiatives.
For those volunteering, your payment will be cashed and you will be given a choice to volunteer in one of the Westdale Community Centre approved roles. We would be asking for a volunteer commitment of 6 hours per family. Once you have completed the volunteer hours, you can apply for the refund and you will be re-imbursed in full for your time.
In order to apply for the refund, you must have paid your deposit in full, successfully completed your volunteer hours and fill out and submit the refund application.
Payments will be accepted by cash, debit, cheques or etransfers (send to wcc.manager@mymts.net). If paying by cheque, cheques should be made out to Westdale Community Centre.
